The gantry crane is a variation of the bridge crane. It is primarily used for loading and unloading bulk cargo in outdoor cargo yards, material yards, and bulk cargo. Gantry cranes offer high site utilization, a wide operating range, wide adaptability, and strong versatility, making them widely used in port cargo yards.
The gantry crane's metal structure resembles a door-shaped frame, with two legs mounted under the main beam, allowing it to travel directly on ground tracks. The main beam can have cantilever beams extending outwards at both ends.
The gantry crane is a type of crane with a bridge supported on ground tracks by outriggers on both sides. Its structure consists of a gantry, a trolley mechanism, a lifting trolley, and electrical components. A gantry crane consists of the upper gantry bridge (including the main girder and end beams), outriggers, and a lower crossbeam.
Single-girder gantry cranes have a simple structure, are easy to manufacture and install, and have a low mass. Most of the main beams are off-track box-type structures. Compared with double-girder gantry cranes, their overall rigidity is weaker.
